Skills|| Medicine|Reading Omens|Motherly|Attentive Faults|| Talks to Herself|No Personal Space Goals|| To have her own family, to train an apprentice Sexuality|| Bisexual Companion|| Glimmer - Praying Mantis |
Personality|| Lightsong is a bit of an oddball. Mostly this steps from her lack of understanding when it comes to personal space, absence of tact, and the fact that she insists she can communicate with certain insects. It's usually the last part that really gets other cats.
Despite this things, Lightsong is a very loving and caring individual. She likes to dote on others and puts their needs above her own. Even when it seems like she is being gruff and grumpy, it's usually just her motherly instincts kicking in. She's very close to her half-sister, Mantispaw. The two left their old clan together and have been with Ductclan for a while now. Sometimes, she tries to be Mantis' sister AND mother at the same time, which recently has confused the young apprentice.
Lightsong considers herself more of a seer than a healer as far as medicine cats go, but she still knows how to deal with most common injuries and illnesses within the clan, and even some less common ones. he'd love to have an apprentice or even another medicine cat that she can put all the stressful healing work on. It can be tough gathering herbs for a whole clan alone and this doesn't leave a lot of time for her to commune with her ancestors through the wilderness or her companion.
Driftbreeze gave her life new purpose and meaning - to be a true seer, to help guide and protect other cats not just physically but mentally. While sometimes the leader can be a bit immature, she knows he has a good heart and will do whatever she can to support him and help him be happy and protect their clan.
Lightsong was sticken with desire for Wraith the moment she saw him. Not because she likes toms, but because he seemed the perfect donor to her family. He was smart, a god hunter, and clearly had led a life where he'd had to work for what he wanted. She appreciated that. She appreciated less how much the second in command seemed to ignore her. So she turned her attention elsewhere and ignored him too.
Lightsong isn't sure about Ghost at first since he is so withdrawn, but over time she realizes this is due to the loss of his sister. He eventually confides in her that he sometimes sees the spirit of his sister, not just in his dreams but while awake. They bond over this, but Ghost is still very skittish when it comes to commitment and confused about what seeing his sister means. Eventually, the two begin spending more and more of their free time together.
Mentor|| Unknown
Apprentice|| Jaggedpaw
Light thinks Jagged is a very cute innocent child. However, she has to admit he has a lot more talent as a healer than she does. It's clear he had a teacher before, but he doesn't talk about them much. Something bothers her about the young tom, but every day he seems less and less skittish and more and more invested in the lives of the cats around him. He's good at making connections and keeping them, more than Lightsong herself. She knows he will make a great healer one day.

History|| Light that Sings Over Water was raised in a small mountain tribe located close to a small tallwalker village. Her tribe often had relations (good and bad) with the stray cats of the village, and between the boom of kittens and slew of injuries that inevitably occured, many of the tribe were trained in healing. Very few where trained in the art of listening to their ancestors in nature and the art was lost for a time.
Light that Sings Over Water was named for the sunrise over the melting stream near her home. She finds the name thoroughly dramatic, and feels it appropriately announces who she is. A gorgeous she-cat while some...dramatic hobbies. Even while she was young, she SAW things in the world around her. Strange arrangements of leaves, the peculiar perch of an owl, or odd shape in a cloud. And what was more, she slowly understood that sometimes, these things meant something important. It took a lot of time and a lot of her tribe ridiculing her and calling her the "clan seer" as a joke. But sometimes, the meanings she figured out came true.
It wasn't until Drift and his Dustclan traveled near there territory that Light that Sings Over Water was given some validation. Drift believed her. At least, in that she saw things with meaning, not necessarily that she understood the meaning. But that was enough for her. Not to mention that even though she wasn't interested in toms, she was determined to have kits with the enigmatic second in command, Wraith. She just had to find mate to raise them with. And get him to agree.
From Drift's perspective|| You want to know what I think about our seer? Hawkpaw, wouldn't you rather I tell about something more interesting, like the omens her pet praying mantis showed her last week? No?
Well, ahem, ah, sure... Let me just... Can't I think this over? Tomorrow maybe? I'm tired and a good clan leader should sleep before...oh it's sunhigh...right.
No, don't start with the blind jokes. Don't make me give you moss collecting duty again! I mean it!
Anyway...I didn't exactly ask Lightsong to join us because she was easy to get along with. I like to think I fill that role myself. I asked her to join because...well, she's observant. And she knows what she's talking about and has had a ton of experience with her old tribe. Not to mention she understood me right away and didn't pester me with questions about it. It was...refreshing. And honestly, you might think she's a bit strange as a seer, but she's not that bad. And seer's a really useful so, I asked...her..to...join Dustclan. Yes.
Okay, okay! Honest answer; she wouldn't stop asking me about it! She kept pestering me if my traveling companions and I were sure we could take care of ourselves and had someone to look after us if someone was injured or if we knew what sort of herbs to use here or there or whatever. I'll be honest, it was actually kind of annoying. I talked to Wraith about her finally and why he didn't seem so bothered and for some reason, when I brought it up, he sort of...I don't know, he didn't zone out like I do exactly, but he got this weird look. Finally he said she reminded him of his mom.
In that moment, I realized he was right. Which was probably why I was taking her pestering as annoying, but it wasn't pestering at all it was just her showing how much she was invested in me and my friends. And to be honest, I think she was being a little sarcastic about it. Like, one time she said she hoped we new how to dry ourselves off after getting wet. Which I thought was obvious so when she said it I was a little concerned she thought I was a kit. But now I realize she was trying to drive the point home that she wanted to tag along and was hoping the sarcasm would get to me. Not that I could personally tell since...well, you know, roll your eyes if you want me to know you're being sarcastic because for the fourteenth time, Hawkpaw, I'm not going to hear you.
As for how she's been once she joined us...she's the only reason we made it to this new territory in once piece. She may not be a fighter, but she knows how to travel well and isn't afraid of anything. You get over the whole talking to insects thing. Trust me. It's not worth worrying about. And I guess I don't even know she's doing it half the time.
You heard Starclan doesn't talk to her? Well, you know that's true. They don't "talk" to her. But they show her things. Like, visions of the future, only she's supposed to do something different when the moment actually happens. IT's actually really funny. Like one time, Wraith was about to leave on patrol and Lightsong just tackles him from behind, stares at him and says, "Don't leave." Now, normally, anyone but me doing that to the second Navigator would get you shredded, right? Yeah, I see that scar there, you'll heal. But Wraith just lays there staring back at her and I honestly think there was some tension there.
Yes, romantic tension! Is there any other kind? I think she jumped on him because she couldn't resist, not because Starclan showed her not to let him go. Nothing happened the next day. But Lightsong swears that's exactly the point. I would have been terrified if I as her and Starclan wanted me to stop Wraith from doing something, but not her. Something about her gets to him...must be the nurturing and motherly attitude since he's probably not used to that.
We've been fine so far and she helped guide us here safely when reading the skies on our travels. I'm still not sure what I am supposed to do here, but I'm sure Lightsong will be shown something when the time comes, either through Glimmer or something else. You know that praying mantis is another way she communicates with our ancestors. Wait, you apprentices didn't know that? Well now you do and that "it" bug as a name and I would appreciate you use it and not try to eat Glimmer because they are important to the success of our clan. That's why Lightsong makes you catch all those bugs as punishment.
